Job description:

The Publishing Partnership is looking for a Digital Editor/Social media manager that is dynamic, self-motivated and has experience in managing and creating engaging content across platforms as well as assisting in growing the platforms.

This person will manage content across the digital platforms of a large retailer and will need to work collaboratively with the rest of the content team.

Job functions:

Digital Platform content management

·      Ensure all digital platforms are updated timeously (this includes campaigns, updates, etc)
·      Ensure that ALL content is error free, factually and grammatically correct.
·      Ensure that the content is in line with the clients objectives, brand identity, style and tone.
·      Ensure newsletters/mailers/SMSes (when requested) are sent out as per the schedule
·      Ensure correct content/open files are requested from Agency and client timeously to ensure steady workflow on the digital team.
·      Brief design to create artwork for all digital platforms and check artwork and copy once created to ensure all content is correct.
·      Ensure that campaigns go live as per schedule and that the relevant team member has been briefed on all aspects of the campaign.
·      Brainstorming competitions/campaign ideas and creating proposals for client and rolling out of these ideas.
·      Manage internal ads and external advertising (when applicable) and budgets and processes.

Social Media management:

Represent and own our clients’ social media presence by successfully articulating the brand message across all social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.

·       Coordinate and develop ongoing monthly social media content calendars
·       Develop quality, timely and relevant day-to-day content for social distribution across social channels, i.e. blog posts, status updates
·       Manage online presence with social monitoring tools to track, monitor and report on metrics and activity
·       Research and present changes in social landscape, new platforms, opportunities and trends to integrate social and traditional.
·       Strategise, create and manage promotions, online events, campaigns and competitions that garner excitement and increase engagement as well as likes and followers.
·       Follow key industry trends, competitive insights and emerging social media and marketing trends.
·       Extensive knowledge of all social media platforms and tools. Must possess a solid understanding of and have previous experience with content, engagement and conversion strategies.
·       Create and manage all published content including written content and images.
·       Monitor and respond to consumers in an engaging and timeous manner. Effectively liaise with the customer care centre to appropriately assist consumers.
·       Track activities with weekly status reports and share with appropriate internal employees.
·       Provide team expertise in all social media including Facebook, Instagram, and blogs.
·       Setup social media competitions on 3rd party apps when required.
·       Write blog content and competition content when required.
·       Manage Facebook and Instagram advertising, monitor, report back and manage budget.
·       Ad hoc tasks as instructed by Digital Manager.

Requirements:

·       Extensive knowledge of all social media platforms and tools. Must possess a solid understanding of and have previous experience with content and engagement.
·       At least 3+ years in a social media position
·       Tertiary education (degree or relevant diploma) Journalism or Media studies.

Blog Management

·      Run monthly blog list meeting
·      Create monthly blog list and schedule and ensure that the schedule is met.
·      Send blog list to Digital Manager for approval and then to client for final approval.
·      Commissions external writers to write blog articles (when necessary)
·      Check blog links before it goes live and ensure that blogs are live as per the schedule.
·      Ensure that the blog articles are relevant, error-free, factually and grammatically.
·      Correct and adheres to brand tone.

Client Relationship management

·      Daily liaison with client
·      Servicing the clients’ needs with a can do attitude
·      Meeting and exceeding client expectations at all times
·      Ensure client requests are briefed in and implemented timeously
·      Ensure content of digital offerings (website and social networks) reflect client briefs

Strategic Planning

·      Compiling of presentations, working closely with the Digital Manager
·      Ensure best practice solution for strategies and campaigns
·      Ensure that the online space reflects the views of the client and adds value to the readers
·      Keep abreast of market trends and competitor landscape

Platform growth

·      Constantly come up with innovative ideas for platform growth
·      Implement platform growth strategies and ensure team is implemented
·      Ensure that the online space reflects the views of the client and adds value to the readers
·      Keep abreast of market trends and competitor landscape
·      Always strategize around user engagement for all digital platforms

Team Management

·      Communicate client objectives with team
·      Provide creative solutions to client challenges
·      Manage leave forms and ensure that the team adheres to the working hours stipulated by the company.
·      Manage any freelance resources for editorial and art support.
·      Liaise with Digital Manager when managing budget

PR

·      Look out for PR opportunities, both article syndication and news/developments from client (ie blogger relationships, competition announcements)
·      Attend presentations and media functions
·      Sign off on press releases
